WINDHOEK， March 16 (Xinhua) -- Telecom Namibia (TN) in conjunction with Chinese company Huawei Technologies has completed the first phase of a time-division duplex long-term evolution (TD-LTE) high-speed wireless network roll-out in Namibia.
TN Managing Director， Theo Klein on Thursday announced the developments and said Huawei's end-to-end 4G solution has been deployed at the coastal towns， where the roll-out began， as part of the first phase.
Klein said the coastal sites with active TD-LTE equipment are Henties Bay， Swakopmund and Walvis Bay as well as Langstrand.
According to him， TN first deployed a nationwide WiMAX 802.16d network in 2007， but to meet growing business customers demand for higher throughput， the company committed to a fixed network technology upgrade that offers a transition path to LTE.
Klein said that Huawei's 4G solution for a commercial broadband network enables TN to develop and provide new product offerings capacity for a growing base of small enterprises and residential users.
Meanwhile， Klein said TN plans to replace the existing WiMAX FDD base stations with TD-LTE base stations in high density urban areas to bring enhanced connectivity to customers.
"We believe that TD-LTE services will contribute to government's vision of broadband development and building Namibia's digital economy，" he added.
Iran on Tuesday reopened the last two border posts with Iraqi Kurdistan that it closed in response to an independence vote rejected by Baghdad and neighboring countries Ali Marpet Hat , officials said.
The Iranian consulate in the Kurdish autonomous region's capital Arbil announced the Parwezkhan and Haji Omran posts were beginning work again "from Tuesday."
A Kurdish spokesman at Parwezkhan confirmed the post had "reopened officially at 9 am" after notification was received from the Iranian side.
The opening of the two posts means that all crossings on the border between Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan are now up and running after a third post at Bashmaq started working again in October.
Iran first announced on December 18 the reopening of all its border posts with Iraqi Kurdistan, without setting a specific date.
Iraq's Kurds voted overwhelmingly in a controversial non-binding referendum in September to establish their own country, but the vote was deemed illegal by the central government.
Neighboring Iran and Turkey also condemned the poll over concerns that it could stir up their own Kurdish minorities.
In the wake of the vote Baghdad moved to isolate the region by imposing an international flight ban - recently extended through February - and urging neighboring nations to sever links.

CHENGDU, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- A Sanxingdui culture-themed post office opened Tuesday in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The post office has a unique postmark, a picture of a bronze human statue in the Sanxingdui Ruins.
It also sells various Sanxingdui cultural products such as the Sanxingdui masked doll.
"We hope to make the post office into a wall-less museum and bring the Sanxingdui culture to more people," said Zhu Jiake, deputy curator of Sanxingdui Museum.
Listed among China's top 10 archaeological findings of the 20th century, the Sanxingdui Ruins, covering an area of 12 square kilometers, were found in Guanghan City in Sichuan.
They are believed to be remnants of the Shu Kingdom that suddenly disappeared some 3,000 years ago.
In 1988, the Sanxingdui Ruins were put under state-level protection.
The site welcomes about 800,000 visitors each year.
