WARSAW Eli Harold Jersey , Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- New appointed Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz has presented the personalities of new government ministers to the public, during the conference held on Friday morning. The new government is to be officially appointed on September 22 and still needs to get the vote of confidence.
Some ministers have not changed and continue their task, among which are: Janusz Piechocinski: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Bartosz Arlukowicz: Minister of Health, Marek Sawicki: Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz: Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Tomasz Siemoniak: Deputy Prime Minister and National Defense Minister, Wlodzimierz Karpinski: Minister of Treasury, Andrzej Biernat: Minister of Sports and Tourism, Maciej Grabowski: Minister of the Environment, Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska: Minister of National Education, Mateusz Szczurek: Minister of Finance, Lena Kolarska-Bobinska: Minister of Science and Higher Education and Malgorzata Omilanowska: Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
Kopacz commented on the continuation of performing minister's duties. She said the decision regarding Tomasz Siemoniak was one of her first decisions, that "she wants him to be one of her closest cooperatives, not only due to the fact, that modern times require strong army, but first of all, because of his personality and qualifications."
As far as Piechocinski is concerned, Kopacz emphasized he was a man "of many competences" and "a strong pillar of Polish economy."
New ministers have also appeared, one of the most outstanding is Grzegorz Schetyna, replacing Radoslaw Sikorski on the post of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Schetyna was said to have a conflict with the previous PM, Donald Tusk within the ruling Civil Platform party. He was working in the Committee on Foreign Affairs recently. During the press conference, Kopacz explained that Sikorski is a new candidate of the ruling coalition for the post of Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. She emphasized it is a promotion for Sikorski. As far as Grzegorz Schetyna is concerned, Kopacz underlined the fact that he had performed an important task before, being both Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs and that he was able to "coordinate well with Sikorski" therefore, the Polish foreign policy is sure to have continuity.
Another new name is Cezary Grabarczyk, chosen for the post of Minister of Justice. Grabarczyk used to be the Minister of Infrastructure in 2007-2011 and was severely criticized for his inability to deal with highway construction. Introducing Grabarczyk, Ewa Kopacz said that he was her "closest associate for the years, a great friend, but also a man of whom she could tell that he loves people, is decent and puts the law on the first place."
A new Minister of Infrastructure and Development is a woman, Maria Wasiak. According to the PM, this "slightly built woman will guarantee the Poles will be able to travel faster, more comfortably, using better roads."
Another woman in the government is Teresa Piotrowska, a new Minister of Internal Affairs. Kopacz commented on her nomination, saying she was able to "rule with a rod of iron." She added that "nowadays in Europe, ministries responsible for the military and law enforcement are handed to women, strong women. Teresa Piotrowska is a strong woman - she can do it." Piotrowska is replacing Bartlomiej Sienkiewicz, who has recently been a participant of so-called "tapes affair" when he was recorded while conversing with the Head of National Bank of Poland, Marek Belka. As a result, Sienkiewicz resigned from any presence in the government.
Regarding Andrzej Halicki, the new Minister of Administration and Digitisation, Kopacz said she expects him to finalize the projects begun by his predecessors.
Apart from the new ministers, the new Head of Chancellary of the Prime Minister, Jacek Cichocki and new government spokesman --Malgorzata Fuszara were chosen.
Kopacz said that the most important task of the government will be "rebuilding the trust of Polish society." She said: "it is a government of strong personalities with factual knowledge and extensive qualifications to perform the tasks that are ahead of them." She underlined the fact that more women participate in the new government than in the previous one. She expects the review of deputy ministers in a month.
The new government will be appointed on Monday, September 22 in the Presidential Palace. Ewa Kopacz will make a speech presenting her idea of governing on October 1.
